Sherry J. Sokol

Visitation: 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Carson and Son Funeral and Cremation Services, Maquoketa.

SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Ruth Ann Scott officiating.

MAQUOKETA — Sherry J. Sokol, 71, of Maquoketa, died Thursday at Crestridge Nursing Home, Maquoketa.

Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Delmar.

She was born March 18, 1935, in Hillsdale, Mich., to Wayne C. and Pauline M. Huff Westcott. She married James Raymond Sokol in Galena, Ill. He died in 1997.

She graduated from Onsted (Mich.) High School.

She was a homemaker and at one time worked with Clinton Engines and Mary Bees, Maquoketa, as well as the Naturalizer Shoe Store, Davenport.

She was a member of the Peace Pipe Players and was involved in the Meals on Wheels program, both in Maquoketa. She also served as a Girl and Cub Scout leader.

Survivors include her children, Lynda (Craig) Jackson of Maquoketa, Debra (Stanley) DeRita of Blairsville, Ga., Scott (Heidi) Sokol of Garner, Robin Sokol and Joe (Cherilyn) Sokol, both of Maquoketa and Chris (Stephanie) Sokol of Woden; one sister, Betty (Royce) Durkee of Tecumseh, Mich.; 19 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A Sherry J. Sokol Memorial Fund has been established.
