Visitation: Were at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Milan, where Masonic services were conducted by Rock Island Masonic Lodge 658 AF&AM.

SERVICES: Were at the funeral home.

MILAN, Ill. — Harlan E. Sharer, 87, of Milan, died Jan. 16 at Pathway Hospice at Trinity at Terrace Park, Bettendorf.

Burial was in the Rock Island (Ill.) Arsenal National Cemetery, where military honors were accorded.

He was born Aug. 12, 1919, in Albany, Ill., to Lester and Ida Brubaker Sharer. He married Margria Agans on Feb. 11, 1942, at Memorial Heights United Methodist Church, Rock Island.

He graduated from Clinton High School in 1938.

He was a World War II veteran.

He was employed as production manager of prototypes, R&D Division, at the Rock Island Arsenal. He retired in 1971.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Rock Island; lifetime member of Rock Island VFW Post 1303; and Rock Island Masonic Lodge 658 AF&AM.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Marlan (Jo Ellen) of Geneseo, Ill.; one daughter, Cindee (Dick) Brugman of Milan; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, Parish Nurse Program, Rock Island; Rock Island VFW Post 1303; or Rock Island Masonic Lodge 658 AF&AM.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one stepgrandchild.
