James W. Garrett

Funeral services for James W. Garrett, 81, Pryor, will be held on Wednesday, January 31, 2007, 2:00 PM at Stephens Memorial Chapel.

James was born September 9, 1925 in Des Moines, Iowa to Harry and Hazel (Gibson) Garrett. He departed this life on January 27, 2007 at the age of 81 years 4 months and 18 days.

James had lived in Pryor since March of 2006, he moved here from Riverside, California. He attended school in Clinton, Iowa and graduated from Clinton High School. He had been a Manager for Sears for about 28 years and retired in 1976. James was married to Beverly Marlowe on August 8, 1947 in Clinton, Iowa; she preceded him in death on January 22, 2007. James was very out going, loved to be around people and never met a stranger. He enjoyed tinkering around in the barn and as his son said “he didn’t make honey-do-lists, he made sonny-do-lists, things he needed me (George) to do. He was very proud of his family as they were of him.

James is survived by son George Garrett and wife Betty of Pryor, daughter Marsha Urrabazo and husband John of Phoenix, 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, sisters Betty Ridout of Omaha, Nebraska, Mardelle King and husband Raleigh of El Dora, Iowa. In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by his parents, sister Florence, brothers Fred and Harry.
