Visitation: 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Miller-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Preston.

SERVICES: 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dwaine Priebe, pastor of Salem Lutheran Church, Spragueville, officiating.

PRESTON — Joan A. Schroeder, 77, of Preston, died Monday at Bickford Cottage, Clinton.

Inurnment will be in Spragueville Cemetery at a later date.

She was born Sept. 2, 1929, to Charles A. and Johanna Croce Gool in Clinton. She married Hobart Schroeder on May 2, 1948.

She graduated from Clinton High School in 1947.

She was a homemaker and also worked as an in-home caregiver for many years. In her younger years, she worked at Hoenicke’s Restaurant, Preston, and Bell Telephone, Clinton.

She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, Spragueville, ALCW, Daughters of the American Revolution and Clinton County Farm Bureau.

Survivors include her husband; three sons, Stephen (Kathleen) Schroeder of Atlanta, Thomas Schroeder of Des Moines and Timothy (Cheryl) Schroeder of Washington, N.C.; two daughters, Judy (Hans) Henningsen of Preston and Jill (Thomas) Jepsen of Des Moines; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Charles (Marilyn) Gool of Clinton and John (Donna) Gool of Atlanta.

A memorial fund has been established.
