Alvin “Sonny” Lacey

Colona, Illinois

December 2, 1942 - January 29, 2007

Alvin “Sonny” Lacey, age 64 of Colona, Illinois, died Monday, January 29, 2007, following a courageous battle with cancer. His body will be cremated. Interment of ashes will be set at a later date.

He was born to Floyd and Roberta Hurt Lacey, December 2, 1942, in Hillsdale, Illinois. Alvin was employed at ArmaLite, Inc., Geneseo, IL. Alvin had also been employed for many years at the Anamosa Silo Plant in both Anamosa and Maquoketa, Iowa. He married Shirley Kepler in Anamosa, Iowa. She preceded him in death. He then married Teresa Ketelsen, October 14, 1997, in Anamosa, Iowa.

Alvin was a member of Colona/Green Rock American Legion Post #1233. He served in the United States Army from 1964 to 1966, station in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He enjoyed the outdoors.

Survivors include Wife, Teresa of Colona, two Step-daughters, Pacia Gray and Annette Goruis, Four Grandchildren; Traelei Jaeger, Travis (Melanie) Jaeger, Mikalia and Aaron Gray, 2 great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Therin Jaeger, One sister, Sue (Jim) Miner and one niece Sara Miner.

He was preceded in death by His parents, his first wife, Shirley, one sister, Nita and a newphew, Jim Miner Jr.

Alvin requested no services but asked that a Celebration of Life take place Saturday, February 3, 2007 from 1 to 5 pm at the Colona Green Rock American Legion.
