Alfred Wetrich

SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Monday at Penn Center Methodist Church, rural Earlham, with the Rev. Charles Thompson officiating. Kuhn Funeral Homes is handling arrangements.

EARLHAM — Alfred Leon Wetrich, 86, of Earlham, died Jan. 18 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Des Moines.

Interment of cremains will be at Penn Center Cemetery, rural Earlham.

He was born Oct. 20, 1920, to Bernie and Hazel Dickey Wetrich in Penn Township, rural Madison County. He married Catherine Stoll on April 7, 1944, in Maquoketa. She died in 2003.

He graduated from Earlham High School.

He and his wife farmed in Clinton before moving to Earlham in 1955. He continued to farm in the Penn Center area of Madison County until they retired to live in Earlham.

He was a member of Penn Center Methodist Church.

Survivors include one son, Jim (Joanne) Wetrich of Redfield; one sister, Lola Jackson of Clinton; seven grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

Death date: Jan. 18, 2007
