The Clinton Herald Saturday February 12, 1944 p. 10 Anton F. Bohnson, 70, veteran Clinton banker, died at 3 o'clock this morning in Mercy hospital following an emergency operation. Bohnson, who had been with the Clinton National and the Clinton Savings banks, in later years as assistant cashier and a director of both banks, was the dean of Clinton bankers and resided at 910 Seventh avenue South. He had been identified with the two banks since 1895 and as the oldest Clinton banker in point of service was anticipating his fiftieth anniversary with the two institutions. Prior to association with those two banks, he was briefly employed in the George Haywood & Sons bank, then located in South Fourth street. Funeral arrangements have not been wholly completed but tentative plans are for services to be held Tuesday afternoon, the hour to be announced later. In the meantime, the body reposes in the Snell Funeral home, where the services probably will be held. Born in Germany, Nov. 18, 1873, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Bandick Bohnson, he came to the United States and to Clinton with his parents and the other members of his family in 1882. He was educated in Clinton schools and early in life became a member of Zion Lutheran church. Preceding him in death in addition to his parents were two brothers, J.L. Bohnson and J.M. Bohnson. Surviving him are his brother, Bernard Bohnson, 1910 Pershing boulevard, general manager of the Clinton Street Railway Co., and a brother, I.M. Bohnson, Portland, Ore.
