John Thomas Cox, Sr.

John Thomas Cox, Sr., 84, died December 30, 2006, at Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.

He was born Jan. 6, 1922, at Elvira, Iowa, youngest son of Gustavus and Augusta Schacht Cox. A resident of Covina, CA 38 years; Clinton and Charlotte, Iowa. He was employed with the Los Angeles County Sanitation Dept. for 34 years.

On June 6, 1942, he and late Kayelaine Stebor Cox were married at Hannibal, Missouri.

He was a World War II Army Veteran (1942 - 1945), with the Third Army, served under General G. Patton.

Survivors include three sons, John, Jr. of Yucaipa, Kenneth of Menifee and Richard of Chino Hills; one daughter Kayelaine C. Hendricks of Chicago, IL; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren; four nephews.

He was preceded in death by wife of 54 yrs Kayelaine S. Cox, two brothers, William and Edgar Cox; and three sisters, Henrietta Wallace, Monica Cox and Alberta Eversoll; and nephew Jon Eversoll.

Funeral was held on Jan. 2, 2007, at Forest Lawn Covina Hills, with Rev. Ken Lee; pallbearers, Robert Wallace (nephew), Zachery Wallace (great-nephew), Jason Nagro (grandson-in-law), Art Garcia.

Memorials may be sent to United States Veterans or Disabled Veterans of your choice or West End Shelter for Animals in Ontario, California.
