FORT DODGE — Roland Rock, 59, of Fort Dodge, died Dec. 19 at Trinity Regional Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 19, 1947, in Clinton. He married Janice Platte on June 2, 1968.
He graduated from Clinton High School and later received bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Drake University. He also did doctorate work at the University of Iowa.
He taught music at Gateway Junior High School, Clinton., and at Sac City Junior High and High School before moving to Fort Dodge in 1996. He was a vocal music teacher at Fort Dodge Senior High School and retired in 2004.
He was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church and was the church’s organist at St. Olaf until November.
Survivors include his wife, Janice; daughter, Maggie Rock of Chicago; and mother, Valeria Rock of Fort Dodge.
Memorials may be made to the family to be used at their discretion for St. Olaf Lutheran Church and the Fort Dodge Vocal Music Department.
He was preceded in death by his father.
