Darlyne Elizabeth Diercks, 80, formerly of Clinton, died January 17, 2007 at Eagle Point Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 20, 2007, 11:00 AM at Chancy Lutheran Church, 2315 Wallace, Clinton. Visitation will be held Friday from 2-7 PM at the Church. Lemke Funeral home is handling all arrangements. Burial will be at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren: Scott Kelley, Bryan Kelley, Matthew Diercks, Jeremy Diercks, Christopher Diercks, Riley Diercks, Jamie Diercks, and Kelsay Diercks. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Valerie Kelley, Erinn Kelley, Alison Kelley, Ericka Kelley, Aubriana Kelley, and Delaney Holmes.
Darlyne was born March 17, 1926, to Rize and Anna (Kraft) Young in Artesian, South Dakota. She attended Goose Lake Schools. She married Vernon “Sonny” Diercks on August 26, 1945, in Clinton. He passed away in February 1979.
Darlyne was a homemaker in the Bryant area until her husband’s death and she then moved to Clinton where she worked at Gateway State Bank until her retirement. She volunteered many years for Clinton area Human Services and received a Service Award from former Gov. Terry Branstad.
Darlyne belonged to the Chancy Lutheran Church in Clinton. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, having coffee with her many friends at Hardees’ and playing cards in the surrounding area.
Survivors included one daughter Lynn (Larry) Kelley of Clinton; two sons of Sabula; Lonnie (Barb) Diercks and Jeffery (Candi) Diercks; five grandsons; five granddaughters; and four great-granddaughters.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two brothers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Genesis Hospice or Chancy Lutheran Church.
