Malinda A. Talkington

Visitation: 2 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt. A Scripture service will be held at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

SERVICES: 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt. The Rev. H. Robert Harness will be officiating.

DEWITT — Malinda A. Talkington, 89, of DeWitt, died Sunday at Westwing Place, DeWitt.

Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt.

Pallbearers will be Bryan Casad, Brett Talkington, Mark Sjobakken, Jim Barr, Richard Cox and Jeff Grantham. Honorary pallbearers will be Tracy Talkington, Tiffany Barr and Donna Casad.

She was born March 28, 1917, in Grand Mound to Carl and Emma Knutsen Ericksen. She married Walter “Scotty” Talkington on Oct. 29, 1938, in Cedar Rapids. He died in 1996.

In her early years, she worked with Iowa Mutual Insurance Co., DeWitt. She later worked for more than 20 years at the former Dahl Furniture Store, DeWitt.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and its Altar and Rosary Society. She also sang with the Village Voices.

Survivors include her children, Linda (Tom) Casad of Grand Mound and Alan (Mary Jo) Talkington of Ames; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Mildred Cox of Clinton; one brother, Vernon Ericksen of DeWitt; and one sister-in-law, Myrtle Grantham of DeWitt.
