SERVICES: Jan. 25 in North Pole. Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family with the arrangements.

NORTH POLE, Alaska — Franklyn Pieczynski, 66, of North Pole, died Wednesday in North Pole.

The body will be cremated. Cremains will be interred at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

He was born Nov. 21, 1940, in Clinton to Anton and Dorothy Finch Pieczynski.

He spent four years in the U.S. Navy, stationed at the Naval Academy in the athletic department as a medic and one year at Camp Lejeune, N.C., as a hospital corpsman.

Survivors include sons, David and Brent of North Pole; his mother, Dorothy Oakes of Clinton; one sister, Rita (Mark) Waage of Colona Heights, Ill.; one brother, Richard (Trisha) Pieczynski of Wyandotte, Okla.; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.

Death date: Jan. 10, 2007
