Florence Betty Graff

Florence Betty Graff, beloved wife, mother, sister-in-law, aunt, and niece, entered into eternal life, free from pain and suffering, in the dark of the evening on December 29, 2006, after a long and courageous battle.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm today at Lemke Funeral Homes, South Chapel, 2600 Lincolnway.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Darrin DeVries officiating.

Pallbearers will be Jim Harmon, Peter Nitschke, Robert Graff, Gene Bierman, Denny Giebelstein and Patrick Phillips.

Florence Betty Schauer Graff was born in Artas, South Dakota to Ted and Leah Schauer in June, 1935. She attended and graduated from schools in Ashley, North Dakota in 1953. She taught farm school in rural areas of South Dakota for several years before being married to Harry H. Graff in June, 1955. Florence and Harry’s union brought 6 children into their lives. Florence’s abiding love for her husband of 51 years, Harry, their family, and her strong will, sustained her everyday of her life. She shared a home with her beloved husband of 51 years, for the majority of their marriage. She went into extended nursing care, when her health deteriorated too greatly for her husband to care for her in July, 2003.

Florence’s talents and hobbies included being a seamstress, traveling the country with her husband visiting family and friends and the challenge of puzzle books. She retired after 14 years from her career at the Garment Factory in 1985.

Florence is survived by her husband, Harry Graff of Camanche, her children Cindy Graff, of DeSoto, TX, Susan Lind, Camanche, Bonnie Clausen, Preston, Clyde Graff of Clinton, and Kristi Fisher of Prosper, TX. Her granddaughters included: Hollie Lind, Melissa Shady, Kimberly Robinson, Courtney Clausen, Jordan Fisher, and Sydney Fisher. Her grandsons included: Daniel Lind and Riley Fisher. Great grandchildren included: Emily, Erika, Alex and Addison Shady, Dominic Robinson, and Leah Atkinson. Her parents and daughter Joyce Douglas, preceded her in death.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established.
