Mary E. McDonnell, age 73, of Clinton, died Saturday, December 30, 2006 at the Bluff Terrace Nursing Home. In following Mary’s request, a private graveside service for the family will take place at Sunset Memorial Garden Cemetery in Rockford, IL. There will be no visitation. The Pape Funeral Home, Clinton is assisting the family. A memorial has been established.
Mary was born on February 2, 1933, in Ft. Sheridan, IL, the daughter of Charles and Peggy Smith Evans. She graduated from West High School in Rockford. Mary had done secretarial work at Mount St. Clare College, The Alverno and Mill Creek Apartments.
Mary is survived by two daughters; Jeanne (Edward) Shipman of Rockford and Cathie (Mike) LaForge of Fayetteville, NC; a son, John (Bonnie) Birkett of Machesney Park, IL; a special grand daughter and her biggest supporter, Lori Hall of Clinton; her grandchildren, Beth Fosnow, Michael (Christy) Birkett and Jennifer Birkett; a brother, Robert (Jackie) Evans of Clinton; a sister-in-law, Candi Evans of North Liberty, IA and several nieces and nephews and many dear friends. Mary was preceded in death by her parents and a beloved brother, Chuck (Jerry) Evans.
