Mary Drolema, 89, formerly of Milledgeville, died Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at Sterling Pavilion Nursing Home.
She was born on January 25, 1917 in Morrison, IL the daughter of Timothy and Henrietta (Dykema) VanKampen and had worked at the utility office in Morrison until her marriage to Henry Richard Drolema on June 1, 1945 in Morrison. They lived in Morrison and Fulton and later moved to a farm near Brookville and Milledgeville where they farmed from 1949-1959 at which time they moved to Milledgeville, IL. Mary and her husband were charter members of the Faith Reformed Church in Lanark, IL and later became members of Bethel Reformed Church in Sterling. Mary was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed sewing for family and friends. She enjoyed growing and tending to her African violets and was a good cook and baker.
Surviving is her husband, Henry; their three children Linda (Robert) Horn of Davis JCT, IL, Jim Drolema of Sterling, IL and Ellen (DuWayne) Beck of Sterling, IL; her four grandchildren Lt. Col. Victor (Lisa) Rick, USAF of San Antonio, TX and their children April, Adam, Emily and Lydia; grandson Eric Drolema of Rock Falls, IL; granddaughter Teresa (Chris) Gierhart of Sterling and their children Megan and Sarah; and granddaughter Karen (Frank) Garza and their children Cristian, Kira and Kadi.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her siblings: Hazel Davis, Julia Norman, Harold VanKampen and Bertha Boelkens.
Funeral services ill be Saturday, December 30, 1006, at 11 AM at Bethel Reformed Church, Sterling. Burial will follow at Oak Knoll Memorial Park. Visitation is Saturday from 9-11 AM at the church with arrangements completed by the McDonald-Allen-Grennan Funeral Home, Milledgeville.
A memorial will be established in her memory.
