Allan D. Van Horn, 70, of Clinton, died Friday at Mercy Medical Center, North Campus, Clinton.
Funeral Services will be 10:30am, Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church with Rev. Stacy Grau officiating. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Scott Hansen, Greg Burken, Harold Massner, Ronald Emerson, Pat Dierickxs and Mark Schuler. Visitation will be Wednesday from 3:00-7:00pm at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home.
Allan Dale Van Horn was born on May 16, 1936 in Bellevue, Iowa, the son of Marvin and Margaret (Brown) Van Horn. He married Janice Traver on May 18, 1958 at First United Methodist Church, Clinton; she later died June 28, 2005.
He was a 1955 graduate of Elvira High School. He served in the National Guard during the 1960’s.
He farmed his entire life west of the city of Clinton. He enjoyed traveling with his granddaughters to his favorite destination, Branson Missouri and the county and state fairs.
He is survived by one daughter: Lora (Tim) Klein of Clinton, Iowa; two granddaughters: Courtney and Brittney Klein of Clinton, Iowa; nephews: Mark (Beth) Petersen of Davenport, Iowa, and Scott (Alexa) Petersen of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; other nieces and nephews and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and his wife.
The family respectfully requests that memorials be made to Camp Courageous.
