SERVICES: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison, with the Rev. Stanley Bomgarden, pastor of Fulton Presbyterian Church, officiating.

ATLANTIC — Gerald M. “Gerry” Stuart, 82, of Atlantic and formerly of Clinton, died Friday at Cass County Memorial Hospital, Atlantic.

Interment will be in Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison, Ill.

He was born Aug. 16, 1924, in Morrison to Henry J. and Cornelia Rose Stuart. He married Dorothy A. Van Dyke on May 2, 1950, in Morrison.

He was a 1942 graduate of Morrison High School. He also attended St. Augustine College, Chicago.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II. He served in the European Theatre, taking part in D-Day and the Battle of the Bulge. He also served in the Philippines.

He was an insurance agent in Atlantic for more than 20 years.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Atlantic, and was a Boy Scout leader with Troop 60 in Atlantic. He also was a member of Atlantic Pymosa Lodge 271, A.F. & A.M. and was past president of Nishna Hills Golf Club.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Craig (Lori) Stuart of Atlantic; one daughter-in-law, Karen Stuart of Winona, Minn.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Edward (Harriett) Stuart of Morrison and John Stuart of Fulton, Ill.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, Atlantic.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son and one sister-in-law.
