SERVICES: 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. John Lutheran Church with the Rev. Wayne Brinkmann officiating.
ANKENY — Iona Elaine Carter, 87, of Ankeny and formerly of Clinton, died Friday at Mill Pond Nursing Home, Ankeny.
Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jeff, Brad and Sean Carter and Matt, Brian and Jason Flynn.
She was born May 20, 1919, in Crawford County to John and Lisetta Sinow Derner. She married Mack Carter on June 6, 1941, in Manning.
She attended school in Crawford County and attended beauty school in Des Moines.
She owned and operated Corner Beauty Shop, Clinton, from 1958 to 2004.
She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church.
Survivors include one son, Ron Carter of Altoona; two sisters, Arletta Christiansen of Spokane, Wash., and Colleen Eich of Sun City, Ariz.; five grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, one daughter-in-law and two brothers.
