SERVICES: Private family graveside services will be today. A memorial Mass will be held at a later date. Schmitz Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

CLINTON — Ramon N. Bertolino, 76, of Clinton, died Monday at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

He was born Feb. 24, 1930, in Pana, Ill., to Dominic and Mary Buroski Bertolino. He married Cheryl Burgmeyer on Aug. 18, 1962, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Clinton.

He graduated from Nokomis (Ill.) High School. He attended the University of Illinois and graduated from Illinois State University with a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in education.

He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.

He was a teacher at Washington and Gateway elementary schools from 1960 to 1990, teaching English and social studies.

He was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish, Izaak Walton League, Pheasants Forever and Ducks Unlimited.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Lynette Bertolino of Coralville, Maura (Robert) Schmitt of DeKalb, Ill., and Carolyn Bertolino of Coralville; two sons, Alan Bertolino of Kauai, Hawaii, and Theron (Karen) Bertolino of DeWitt; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The family requests that memorials be made to the Alverno Healthcare Facility.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
