SERVICES: 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church with the Rev. Karl Bratt officiating.
Leroy “Lee” Walter Jansma, 72, of Randolph, went to his Eternal Home on Saturday, December 16, 2006 at the Beaver Dam Community Hospital.
Lee was born in Columbia County on August 18, 1934, the son of Louie and Anna (Tamminga) Jansma. Raised on an area farm, he attended the Randolph Christian Grade School and Randolph High School. Following his education, Lee served his country with the United states Army. On January 1, 1957, he was united in marriage to Nancy Balk in Fulton, Illinois. They made their home near Friesland where Lee was a lifelong dairy farmer. He was also employed with Sam’s Rotary Well Drillers and Gale Quade Construction. Lee was a member of the Second Randolph Christian Reformed Church where he has held the office of both Deacon and Elder. He also served on the boards of both Randolph Christian School and Central Wisconsin Christian High School. Lee shared his gift of song as a member of the Crusaders Quartet, and most recently with the Friesland Community Men’s Chorus. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and numerous friends, and will be fondly remembered for his playful sense of humor.
Lee is survived by Nancy, his wife of nearly 50 years; three children, Victoria (Kevin) Vande Streek, Jenison, MI: Louis (Amy) Jansma, Randolph; Valerie Vande Zande, Fox Lake; fourteen grandchildren, K.C. and Amy, Brian, Matthew, and Daniel Vande Streek; Jolie, Jack and Jillian Vande Zande; two sisters, Ellie (Rev. Lugene) Bazuin, Crete, IL; Betty (Jack) Smedema, Cambria; three brothers-in-law, Gary (Linda) Balk; Randy (Sheila) Balk; Norm (Anne) Balk, all of Fulton, IL; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Lee was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 20, 2006 at the Second Randolph Christian Reformed Church, 332 Tamarack St. Randolph with the Rev. Karl Bratt officiating. Burial will follow in the Randolph Cemetery.
Friends may call on Tuesday, December 19, 2006, from 4-8 p.m. at the Second Randolph Christian Reformed Church, and on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the hour of service.
A memorial fund is being established in Lee’s name.
Randolph Community Funeral Home is serving the family.
