MORRISON, Ill. — Garrett R. “Gary” Brackemyer, 63, of Morrison, died Saturday at his home.
Interment will be in Erie (Ill.) Cemetery.
He was born Aug. 17, 1943, in Morrison to Jacob J. and Dorothy M. Meyer Brackemyer. He married Carole G. Stoudt on Oct.19, 1963, in Erie. She died in 2005.
He attended Lyndon (Ill.) grade and high schools. He received his general equivalency diploma while serving in the United States Air Force.
He was employed with United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, Union Local 2158. He also was employed with the former Northwestern Steel and Wire Co., Sterling, Ill., as a supervisor for 11 years.
He was a member of Morrison American Legion Post 328 and the National Rifle Association.
Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Dorothy M. Brackemyer of Morrison; two sons, Brian (Cathy) Brackemyer of Auburn, Ill., and Mike (Dawn) Brackemyer of Topeka, Kan.; three grandchildren; one sister, Malinda (Don) Galloway of Morrison; and one brother, Steven (Nadine) Brackemyer of Rochelle, Ill.
