SERVICES: 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Monmouth School gymnasium with a time of remembrance shortly before serving at 3 p.m. The Rev. Ruth Ann Scott will be officiating. Carson & Son Funeral and Cremation Services in Maquoketa is in charge of the arrangements
MONMOUTH, Iowa — Marilee A. “Mert” Lucas, 64, of Monmouth, died Saturday at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
Burial will be at a later date in Hickory Grove Cemetery, rural Maquoketa.
She was born Aug. 28, 1942, in Dubuque to Harold W. Carr and Mary L. Ralston Carr.
She was educated in rural Jackson County country schools.
She worked at several area factories including Kirsch, Ensign Coil and Clinton Engines. She also operated bars, the Coloma Inn and Piccadilly Tap in Monmouth, for many years. Most recently she worked as a part-time bartender at the Hound Dog, Monmouth.
Survivors include one son, Robert (Juliee) Yarolem of Monmouth; two grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; one stepgreat-grandchild; brothers, Ronald Carr of Hampton, Ill., Thomas Carr of Monmouth, Edward (Nancy) Carr of Koloa, Hawaii, Allen (Carol) Carr of Monmouth and Douglas (Marla) Carr of Marengo; sisters, Sharon (James) Foulks of Onslow, Dixie Bruns of Monmouth, Cathy (Jesse) Miller of Maquoketa and Carla (Donald) Clark of Monmouth; and many nieces and nephews.
A Marilee “Mert” Lucas Memorial Fund has been established.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, one daughter, three brothers and four sisters.
