SERVICES: 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
CLINTON — Lawrence W. Greenwalt Sr., 91, of Clinton, died Wednesday at his home.
Burial will be at Clinton Lawn Cemetery with military rites by the AMVETS.
Casket bearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons.
He was born March 22, 1915, in Clinton, to Lawrence C. and Elizabeth Collis Greenwalt. He married Laneda Detes Lampe on June 5, 1937, in Clinton.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a carpenter on the troop transport, USS Eltinge in the Atlantic Theater.
He was a master carpenter with Local 772 for more than 55 years.
He was a lifetime member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America and a member of the American Legion and VFW.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Lawrence “Larry” (Sarah) Greenwalt of Clinton; a daughter, Eilene Proud of Morrison, Ill.; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one stepgreat-grandchild; seven great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marjorie Soper of Texas.
Memorials may be made to Mercy Hospice.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and three brothers.
