SERVICES: 2 p.m. Saturday at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, Spragueville.
HIXTON, Wis. — Ruth C. Specht, 90, of Hixton and formerly of Preston, died Tuesday at her home.
Burial will be in Spragueville Cemetery.
She was born Sept. 5, 1916, in Ames to George and Arminda Hageman Beck. She married Leon L. Specht on Feb. 17, 1940, in Davenport.
She graduated from Preston High School in 1935 and the Jane Lamb School of Nursing, Clinton, in 1939.
She worked at Mercy and Jane Lamb hospitals in Clinton as a private duty nurse. She also worked as the head nurse at the Maquoketa Care Center for 12 years.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Lowell (Virginia) Specht of Springhill, Fla., Noel Specht of Bonney Lake, Wash., five daughters, Carmin (John) Blake of Maquoketa, Joene Michel of Preston, Twyla (Kenneth) Dinger of Center Point, Lwyla (David) Schneider of Black River Falls, Wis., and Noella Soenksen of Muscatine; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; three brothers, George “Shorty” (Dorothy) Beck of Spragueville, Ambrose (Caryl) Beck of Goose Lake and Robert (Lenora) Beck of Sabula; two sisters, Virginia Bees of Sun City West, Ariz., and Shirley (Allen) Felderman of Spragueville.
