Anastasia Blanche Ales, 89 of Oxford Junction passed away Sunday, October 15, 2006, at the Maquoketa Care Center, Maquoketa, with her son and daughter-in-law at her side. In August, Blanche was diagnosed with a brain tumor, and when the end grew near, she accepted her fate with the love and comfort of Sacred Heart Church, friends, and the saying of her rosary everyday at the care center.

Her 89 years seemed so short but complete, after all the cooking and cleaning and helping of friends and family along the way.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, October 20, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Oxford Junction, with Rev. William C. Kneemiller officiating. Burial will be held in the Mayflower Cemetery, Oxford Junction. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Lahey Funeral Home in Oxford Junction, where a vigil service will be held at 6:30 p.m.

Memorials may be given to Sacred Heart Church, Oxford Junction, Oxford Junction Senior Center, where she enjoyed many retirement years, and Maquoketa Care Center.
