ELIZABETH, Ill. — Marvin E. Menzemer, 88, of Hazel Green, Wis., and formerly of the Schapville, Ill., and Elizabeth area, died Thursday.
He was born Dec. 27, 1917, to Ben and Carrie Gugler Menzemer near Schapville. He married Dorena Dee Simmons on Sept. 8, 1972, at the Elizabeth Presbyterian Church.
He attended Schapville School.
He farmed in the Stockton, Ill., and Elizabeth area.
He played baseball for the Jo Daviess County Farm Bureau baseball team in 1937.
Survivors include his wife; one sister, Beverly Brandt of Galena, Ill.; one brother, Calvin (Marilyn) Menzemer of Elizabeth; and two sisters-in-law, Doris Menzemer and Donna Hints.
A general memorial fund has been established in his name.
