Visitation: There will be no visitation.
SERVICES: There will be no funeral services. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
CLINTON — Lorene C. Nelken, 85, of Clinton, died Saturday at Wyndcrest Nursing Home, Clinton.
She was born April 29, 1921, in Ames to Cecil and Ethel Johnson Hamm. She married Lloyd Melenbacker. She later married Dr. Leonard Nelken in October of 1951; he later died.
She was a 1939 Clinton High School graduate.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, Clinton.
Survivors include three daughters, Randi (Russ) Gifford and Kris Melenbacker, both of Camanche, and Dr. Andrea Nelken of Pittsburgh; two grandchildren; and two sisters, Patricia Schmitz of Clinton and Kathleen (Dr. Edwin) Pound of Atlanta.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Clinton Human Society.
She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands and two sons.
