Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church with the Rev. Walter Malkewitz officiating.
DEWITT — Elmer A. Petersen, 89, died Thursday at Westwing Place, DeWitt.
Interment will be at Elvira Cemetery.
He was born Sept. 15, 1917, in Goose Lake to Christian and Amanda Milder Petersen. He married Arline Dierks on Jan. 24, 1940, in Clinton.
He farmed and fed cattle in the Elvira area for 35 years. In 1978, they moved to DeWitt where he worked at Yoder Feed, Springbrook Country Club and Bill Moeller Seeds.
He was a member of Elvira Zion Lutheran Church where he had been on the church council. He also was a member of Lutheran Brotherhood and had been chairman of Zion’s building committee.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Bonnie Dahl, of Clinton; three sons David (Diane) Petersen of Goose Lake, Larry (Jeanora) Petersen of Clinton and Loren (Karen) Petersen of DeWitt; and five grandchildren.
