Benjamin H. Landis

Benjamin H. Landis, 81, of Clinton passed away October 11, 2006, at his home. Memorial Services will be Sunday, October 15, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, family will receive friends following the Memorial service in the church Atrium. Lemke Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Benjamin was born December 5, 1924, in Abilene, KS to Harrison and Ethel (McCulloh) Landis. He married Margaret Ann Nelson on April 11, 1953 in Galesburg, IL. She survives him.

He graduated from Kansas State University, where he was a member of the Chemical Honor Societies, Phi Kappa Phi and Phi Lambdan Upsilon. He was a member of the American Chemical Society and American Cereal Chemists.

He served in the United States Army during W.W. II in the European Theater.

He was an employee at Clinton Corn Processing Co. retiring in 1982, where he was Director of Product Development and Customer Service. He later did consulting work for A.E. Staley from 1983-1988.

Ben served as President of Jane Lamb Hospital Board of Trustees and Clinton Symphony Orchestra. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church where he served on the Board of Trustees and other committees. He was a 32Degree Mason. Gardening, golf and bridge were the activities he enjoyed. His greatest love was his family.

Survivors include: his wife Margaret “Margie” of Clinton, a daughter, Anne (Brent) Owen of DesMoines, a son, John (Laura) Landis of Lenexa, KS. Grandchildren Jason and Matthew Owen, Rachael and Lisa Landis, one sister Virginia (George) Vincent of Topeka, KS.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church.
