Jacobus Blink, 87, of Riverbank, CA and formerly of Clinton, died Friday, October 6, 2006 at his home in California. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 13th , 10:00 AM, at Lemke Funeral Homes South, 2600 Lincoln Way, Clinton, Rev. Laura Renault will be officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, October 12th from 5-7 PM at Lemke Funeral Home South. Burial will be at Clinton Lawn Cemetery.
He was born November 3, 1918 in Warffum, Holland to Jakobus and Derktje (Bof) Blink. He married Jeanne McNamara on October 14, 1961 in Clinton.
He attended school in Holland.
He served in the Dutch Colonial Army from 1937-1942. He was a Japanese Prisoner of War. While in prison he worked on the Thai-Burma Railroad until he was released in 1945. Jacobus also fought during the Indonesian War for Independence from 1948-1951. He came to the U.S. in 1953.
He worked for Clinton Corn as a Laborer in the Starch Plant.
He loved to watch the Cubs, gardening, and watching his grandchildren.
Survivors of Jacobus include; two daughters, Nancy (Robert) Norton and Julie Blink, both of Riverbank, CA; three grand daughters Sarah, Rachel, and Kathryn Norton; one brother Johannes Blink of Holland; one sister in law Marilyn Schmidt of Clinton, and one brother in law Glenn Haylock of WI.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jeanne, one sister, and six brothers.
Memorials may be made to the Cancer Society.
