Visitation: 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday and 9:30 a.m. Monday until the time of the service, all at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Bellevue.
SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church. The Rev. Stephen Meyer will officiate.
BELLEVUE — Thomas James Daugherty, 71, of Bellevue, died Thursday at his home.
Burial will be in the parish cemetery. The Kingery Funeral Home & Cremation Service is in charge of the arrangements.
He was born July 17, 1935, in Bellevue to Cornelius V. and Teresa Kueter Daugherty. He married Rita Yeager on Sept. 3, 1960, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Bellevue.
He had served in the National Guard.
He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics from Loras College in Dubuque and also attended the Wisconsin School of Banking
He was the former president of Bellevue State Bank, retiring in 2000. He was a bank director and Riverview Development Director as well as a charter member.
He was a member of the Bellevue Golf Club, Bellevue Knights of Columbus and the Iowa Bankers Association. He also taught Junior Achievement at St. Joseph’s Church.
Survivors include his wife of Bellevue; four children, William T. (Lisa) Daugherty, of Kansas City, Theresa (Cletus) Weber, of Bellevue, Sara (Mark) Eisbach, Dubuque and Ruth (fiancé Jim Cavanaugh) Daugherty of Bellevue; 11 grandchildren; five sisters, Jean Daugherty, of Bellevue, Helen Mulligan, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Sr. Gertrude Daugherty FSPA, of LaCrosse, Wis., Sr. Betty Ann Daugherty FSPA, of Hiawatha, and Mary Lou Koppes, of Peoria, Ariz.; sisters-in-law, Betty Daugherty, of Bellevue, Helen Daugherty, of Bellevue, and Agnes Daugherty, of Redwood Valley, Calif., Ruthie (Bill) Conway, of Bettendorf, Bob (Mary) Ballantyne, of Ely, and Gary (Katy) Roeder, of Bellevue; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two infant sisters, five brothers, a sister-in-law, and his father and mother-in-law, V. Kenneth and Mildred Yeager.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Bellevue, Prairiewoods Retreat, Hiawatha or a charity of your choice.
