Margaret Jefferson

Margaret Monica Jefferson, 94, of Clinton, died Thursday, October 5, 2006 at the Alverno Health Care Facility. Funeral service will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday, October 10 at St. Mary’s Church, Clinton. Visitation will be held Monday, October 9 from 3-7 PM at Lemke Funeral Homes-Lyons Chapel, 2304 N 2nd St., Clinton. Annette Lyons will lead Rosary at 5:00 PM. Pallbearers will be friends and family members. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Davenport, IA.

Margaret was born November 18, 1911 to Daniel and Bridget (Deacon) Sullivan. She graduated from high school; she attended beauty school in Dubuque. She worked as a beautician at Mrs. O’Brian’s in Davenport until she got married. She married Harold Jefferson on February 19, 1938 in Davenport. She was a member of Prince of Peace Parish. Her family was her life; she enjoyed being a grandmother, and a mother. She also enjoyed playing rummy, euchre, and pitch.

Survivors include two sons, Richard (Veeny) Jefferson of Fairfield, IA; and Ron (Syndia) Jefferson of Waxhaw, NC; two daughters, Darlene Jefferson and Faye Jefferson both of Clinton; nine grandchildren, Debbie (Jeff) Celani of Ivins, UT, Ginger (Bart) Allsup of Phelan, CA, Wendy (Mark) Ayala of Waxhaw, NC, Jennifer (Jason) Juranek of Ashburn, VA, Kimberly (Jeff) Tauber of Sparta, NJ, John Jefferson of Fontana, CA, Brenda (Jeff) Housinga of St. Joesph, IL; and Sandy Sargent of Highland Park, NJ, and Rick Jefferson of Albuquerque, NM; nine great grandchildren; and one sister Bernice O’Meara of Dubuque, IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Harold, one brother, and three sisters.

Memorials can be made to Jesus Christ Prince of Peace Parish.
