Visitation: 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory.

SERVICES: 11 a.m. Thursday at Clinton Lawn Cemetery with Dennis Glew officiating. Military honors will be conducted by Clinton AMVETS Post 28.

CLINTON — Francis E. Richards, 88, of Clinton, died Sunday at Eagle Point Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Clinton.

He was born May 7, 1918, in Thorpe, W.Va., to Frank and Kate King Richards. He married Shirley Crook on March 23, 1957, in Clinton.

He graduated from Gary High School in West Virginia in 1936. He later graduated from Bowling Green Business College.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1939 to 1945.

He moved to Clinton in 1946 and was employed with E.I. Dupont for 31½ years before retiring as a supervisor in 1978.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church serving as an usher for more than 30 years. He was a member of Emulation Masonic Lodge 255 and the American Legion.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Carol (Bud) Mielkey of Clinton; three sons, Francis Richards of Henderson, Nev., David (Kathy) Richards of Goose Lake and Robert (Lara) Richards of Donahue; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother, Frank (Hazel) Richards of Huntington, W.Va.; and two sisters-in-law, Jennie Richards of Orlando, Fla., and Irene Gilbert of Sweet Home, Ore.

The family requests that memorials be made to First United Methodist Church, Clinton Humane Society or Mercy Hospice.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and one sister.
