SERVICES: Was in Fort Myers. National Cremation Society Funeral Home, North Fort Myers, is in charge of arrangements.
NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. — Douglas Robert Sonderman, 76, of North Fort Myers and formerly of Clinton, died on Sept. 19 at Southwest Florida Regional Medical Center.
Interment was in Arlington National Cemetery.
He was born July 16, 1930, in Cleveland.
He graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a degree in mechanical engineering.
He served in the U.S. Navy, earning the rank of commander and retiring from the Navy Reserve.
He retired from E.I. DuPont.
He moved to North Fort Myers in 2001.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Lou Hartmann; four children, Kurt Sonderman of Panama City, Fla., Chris Sonderman of Oro Valley, Ariz., Jane Silane of River Edge, N.J., and David Sonderman of Oslo, Norway; two stepchildren, Laura North of Rockville, Md., and Martin Fay of Cape Coral, Fla.; and 12 grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to St. Michael Lutheran Church, 3595 Broadway, Fort Myers, FL 33901.
He was preceded in death by his first wife.
