Sister Marie Christine Knudsen BVM (Christinita)

DUBUQUE — Sister Marie Christine Knudsen BVM (Christinita), 73, of Dubuque and formerly of Grand Mound, died Sunday at Marian Hall, Dubuque.

Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery.

She was born Aug. 1, 1933, to Jacob and Eva Trenkamp Knudsen.

She attended Welton Consolidated School and graduated from Calamus Consolidated School.

She entered the BVM congregation on Sept. 8, 1952. She professed her first vows on March 19, 1955, and final vows on July 16, 1960.

She was pastoral minister at St. Mary’s Parish, Clinton, from 1983 to 1985. She also taught in Rapid City, S.D., Waterloo, Fort Dodge and Emmetsburg. She was on the staff at Marian Hall.

Survivors include four sisters, Sister Edna Mae Knudsen BVM of St. Paul, Minn., Margaret Feddersen of DeWitt, Lucille Chapman of LeClaire and Lillian Kaczinski of Grand Mound; and one brother, Henry Knudsen of Clinton.

Memorials may be given to the Sisters of Charity, BVM Retirement Fund, 1100 Carmel Drive, Dubuque, IA 52003.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.

Death date: Sept. 17, 2006
