Alice L. Fellers

Alice L. Fellers, 93, Davenport, formerly of Rock Island died September 16, 2006, at Crest Health Center, Davenport, Iowa. Services will be on Wednesday, September 20th, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt, Iowa. The Rev. Robert Harness will preside at the Liturgy of Christian Burial. Visitation will be at the church prior to the funeral from 10:00 until service time. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in DeWitt. Pallbearers will be Camilla and Carol McGuire, James and Joseph McGuire, Lorin Meade and Ben Montez. Memorials may go to Ridgecrest Retirement Village or Genesis Hospice. Nelson Funeral Home, DeWitt is in charge of arrangements.

Alice L. McGuire was born on August 10th, 1913 in Clinton County, Iowa to Thomas F. and Margaret J. McManus McGuire. She married William Fellers at St. Joseph Catholic Church in DeWitt on July 31, 1954. He preceded her in death on June 9th, 2004.

Alice graduated from Elvira High School, Mount St Clare Jr. College and Marycrest College where she earned her B.A. Degree in education. She was employed at Bruce Publishing Company in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and then taught in the Davenport Public Schools until her retirement in 1977. She was a former member of St. Joseph Church in Rock Island, Davenport Retired Teachers, Rock Island Elks and a volunteer at Franciscan Hospital in Rock Island for many years.

Survivors include her sister, Gertrude Schaumberg, Clinton, Iowa; sister-in-law, Emma McGuire, Peoria, Ill., nieces; Lolita Dierickx, Rosemary Meade, Carol and Camilla McGuire, Becky VanHouton, Deborah Decker, Marilyn Cross and Margaret Montez; nephews, James and Joseph McGuire.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sisters Marietta and Venona McGuire; brothers, John, Leonard, Francis, Edward and Thomas; nieces, Theresa Krogman and Margaret Linehan; nephew, John T. McGuire.
