Marvin S. Schau

LOST NATION — Marvin S. Schau, 77, of Lost Nation, died Saturday at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, Davenport.

Interment will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Wheatland.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Todd Schau, Jeff, Jim and Marlon Vander Heiden, Daniel Schau and Kyle Voss, Peter “PJ” Andrew and Dakota Schau.

He was born Aug. 5, 1929, southeast of Grand Mound to Peter and Marjorie Freeman Schau. He married Betty Lou Busch on Dec. 28, 1947, at DeWitt United Methodist Church.

He attended Calamus school.

He farmed until 2004. He also worked with the Iowa Illinois Electric Highline crew for 17 years and the Clinton County Secondary Roads Department for 15 years before retiring in 1994. He also drove a school bus in his early years.

Survivors include his wife; five children, Larry (Marilyn) Schau of Grand Mound, Wanda (John) Vander Heiden of Wheatland, David (Pam) Schau of Calamus, Randy (Diana) Schau of Davenport and Connie (Ron) Voss of Bennett; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; one stepgreat-grandchild; three brothers, Merlin “Buck” Schau of Grand Mound, Ronald (Ruth) Schau of Lost Nation and Les (Phyllis) Schau of DeWitt; and many nieces and nephews.
