SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Monday at Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home in Mount Carroll. The Rev. David Vidler of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mount Carroll, will officiate.
VISITATION: 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
MOUNT CARROLL, Ill. — Donald W. “Gus” Morhardt, 87, of Mount Carroll, died Thursday at FHN Memorial Hospital, Freeport, Ill.
Burial will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery, Mount Carroll, with full military rites accorded.
He was born June 9, 1919, to Gustave and Lillian Dale Morhardt, in Mount Carroll. On Oct. 19, 1946, he married Marjorie Irwin in Mount Carroll. She died Jan. 14, 2004.
He attended Arnold’s Grove and Fairground Country Schools going on to Mount Carroll High School.
He served in the United States Army during World War II.
He worked for Frank Furniture & Funeral Home, Mount Carroll, for many years, the City of Mount Carroll Sewer Department and also farmed in the area.
He was a member of the Mount Carroll American Legion and the Savanna Moose Lodge.
A memorial fund has been established in his name.

Survivors include a brother, Darwin (Darlene) Morhardt of Orangeville, Ill.; two sisters, Evelyn Morhardt of Freeport, Ill., and Darlene Streicher of Thomson, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie, and both parents.
