Lawrence A. “Larry” Untiedt

SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Schultz Funeral Home in DeWitt. The Rev. Pete Hagglund will officiate.

VISITATION: 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

DEWITT — Lawrence A. “Larry” Untiedt, 73, DeWitt, died Friday at Trinity Medical Center, Terrace Park Campus, Bettendorf.

Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt.

Pallbearers will be his seven children and honorary pallbearers will be his six grandsons.

He was born Sept. 23, 1932, on his grandparent’s farm in rural Davenport to Benjamin A. and Evelyn A. Knoblauch Untiedt. He married Dorothy Lee Hesse on June 14, 1952, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Davenport.

He graduated from DeWitt High School in 1950, where he excelled in sports, notably track and cross country.

He worked as a mechanic much of his life, retiring from Blaine's Farm & Fleet in July 1999.

He was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ, DeWitt, and was a life member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 363 in Clinton.

Survivors include his wife; seven children, David A. (Paula) Untiedt, Davenport, Steven E. (LuAnn) Untiedt, Spokane, Wash., Debra L. Schmidt, Davenport, JoElla A. (Joe) O’Connell, DeWitt, James W. Untiedt, DeWitt, Chris L. (Teri) Untiedt, Clinton, and Kenneth L. (Tierney) Untiedt, Nacogdoches, Texas; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
