Harlan R. Wells

PORT BYRON, Ill. — Harlan R. Wells, 93, of Port Byron, died Wednesday at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island, Ill.

Burial will be in Zuma Cemetery, Port Byron.

He was born Aug. 2, 1913, in Zuma Township to Herbert and Lena Hannewalker Wells. He married Faye Ashdown on May 4, 1935, in Coal City, Ill.

He was a farmer.

He was Farm Bureau member and former member of the Port Byron High School Board. He also was member of Church of the Cross, Port Byron.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Carla (Leon) Frick of Goose Lake and Barbara (Randy) Kline of Port Byron; four sons, Gary (Anita) Wells of Dekalb, Ill., Lanny Wells of Moline, Ill., Kendal (Carol) Wells of Branson West, Mo., and Bradley (Linda) Wells of Port Byron; two daughters-in-law, Cindy Wells of Port Byron and Linda Kirklin of East Moline, Ill.; 17 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may made to the Church of the Cross.

He was preceded in death by two sons and two sisters.

Death date: Sept. 6, 2006
