Marilyn Therese Jorgensen

Marilyn Therese Jorgensen, 76, died peacefully in her sleep Saturday, September 2, 2006, at the Hospice of Central Iowa Kavanaugh House at 7:50 AM, following a very brief battle with lung cancer. Memorial arrangements are pending.

Marilyn was born as Therese Kilcoin on July 29, 1930 in St. Louis, MO and was adopted by John and Marie McGrath of Clinton, Iowa. She attended St. Mary’s Grade School, High School, and Mount Saint Clare College in Clinton. She worked for many years in the Clinton Public School system as a secretary at Hawthorne and Kirkwood Elementary and at Clinton High School. After retirement, she moved to Des Moines in 2000 and lived at Plymouth Place, whose many residents were treasured friends. She volunteered her time to work in the office at Roosevelt High School.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents and beloved uncle, William McGrath of Clinton.

Marilyn is survived by her two sons; Marty (wife Jeanie, grandson Greg, granddaughter Erica) of Des Moines, and Michael (wife Bonnie, grandson David) of St. Peter MN.

A Memorial Gathering to celebrate Marilyn’s life will be held at Rastrelli’s Restaurant on Sunday, September 10, from 3:00 PM to 5:30 PM. At 4:00 PM, Bill Michaelsen will lead a time of prayer and remembrance with music by Marilyn’s son, Michael. Interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery immediately following the Memorial Gathering.
