SERVICES: 11 a.m. Saturday at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 775 E. LeClaire Road, Eldridge.
ELDRIDGE — Alberta L. Matzen, 79, of Eldridge, died Monday at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, Davenport.
Burial will be in Summit Cemetery.
She was born Dec. 11, 1926, in Davenport to John and Marie Breckling Hansen. She married Lester H. Matzen on Feb. 10, 1946, in Davenport. He died in 2003.
She and her husband farmed east of Mount Joy for 34 years. She also worked with Douglas Industries, Eldridge, and hung wallpaper in area homes for many years.
She was a 56-year member of the Pythian Sisterhood and served as treasurer for three years. She also was a member of the Past Chiefs, Nifty-Fifty, Eldridge Sportsman’s Club and Golden Anniversary Club.
Survivors include four daughters, Joyce (Miles) Walker of Clinton, Bonnie (Harlan) Perry of Davenport, Janet Matzen of Ewa Beach, Oahu, Hawaii, and Donna (Patrick) Lorenz of Prairie du Chien, Wis.; one son, Larry (Cara) Matzen of Eldridge; 16 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Bernita (Bob) Sell of Mesa, Ariz.
Memorials may be made to the Eldridge Volunteer Fire Department or Eldridge branch of the Scott County Public Library.
