Frances Bernadette Proud

Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday with a prayer service at 6 p.m. at Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory.

SERVICES: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Prince of Peace Parrish St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

CONROE, Texas — Frances Bernadette Proud, 90, of Conroe, died Friday.

Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Ryan Grams, Jesse James, Brian Dawson, Mike Kashner, Rocky Hatcher and Paul Shaw.

She was born June 1, 1916, in Collis, Minn., to Theodore and Mary DeDoncker Claeys. She married Fred W. Grams. He died in 1957. She then married Alvin Proud on July 19, 1958. He died in 1996.

She attended school in Scott and Clinton counties and Villa de Chantal, Rock Island, Ill.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Church.

She and her husband, Alvin Proud, worked with the Corps of Engineers as park attendants at the Thomson (Ill.) Causeway.

Survivors include one daughter, Colleen Kalina of New Waverly, Texas; three sons, Richard (Marie) Grams of Slidell La., Fred (Cathy) Grams of Indianapolis and Ronald (Carol) Grams of Streetsboro, Ohio; 18 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Mrs. Bernice (Robert) Claeys of Long Grove.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

She was proceeded in death by her husband, four brothers and one sister.
