Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Canticle, 841 13th Ave. North, third floor. Scripture service at 6:30 p.m. and rosary at 3:30 p.m.

SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Canticle Chapel with the Rev. Richard Okumu officiating.

CLINTON — Sister Blanche Quinlan OSF, 87, of The Canticle, died Friday at Mercy North Hospital.

Burial will be in St. Irenaeus Cemetery, Clinton.

Pallbearers will be relatives, friends and members of the Sisters of St. Francis.

She was born June 28, 1919, in Delmar to William P. and Anne Lenore Reilly Quinlan.

She attended elementary school at St. Patrick’s, Delmar. She graduated from Delmar High school in 1937. She received an A.A. from the Mount St. Clare College and a B.A. from St. Ambrose College. She also attended Loyola University, Los Angeles, and received her master’s degree from there. She received Iowa and California elementary teaching certificates.

She joined the Sisters of St. Francis on June 13, 1937. Her final vows were taken June 9, 1943.

She taught primary grades and pastoral ministry to the sick and the elderly. Her first teaching assignment was in Victor from 1940 to 1942, followed by 12 years at St. Francis de Paula School, Chicago. From 1954 to 1960, she taught in Chino, Calif., and from 1960 to 1966 in El Cajon, Calif., where she also was principal. She taught in Freeport, Grand Bahamas, from 1966 to 1974. Her final mission was St. Catherine of Alexandria Parish, Riverside, Calif., where she began her 28-year ministry to the sick and elderly. In 2002, after a total 40 years of service in California, she retired from active ministry and returned Clinton.

Survivors include family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
