Cyril E. Cave Jr.

Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. today at Pape Funeral Home, Clinton.

SERVICES: 10:30 Thursday at the funeral home.

CLINTON — Cyril E. Cave, Jr., 83, of Clinton, died Monday at his home.

Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Aaron, Christina, Nathan and John Rose Jr., Donal Rawlings, Jason Enow and Russell Stanley.

He was born Feb. 12, 1923, in Whiteside County, Ill., to Cyril and Effie Person Cave Sr. He married Arleta King on April 17, 1949, in Clinton; she died in 2004.

He graduated from Clinton High School in 1939.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1943 to 1946 and during the Korean War from 1949 to 1952 where he was a .50 caliber gunner.

He worked as a painter with the Chicago Northwestern Railroad, Clinton, and with Jim Walters Window Components, Camanche. He and his wife sold Amway for many years.

He was a former member of the Clinton Moose Lodge.

Survivors include one son, Cyril Cave III of Clinton; one daughter, Mrs. Pam (Terry) Rose of Clinton; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Richard (Irene) Cave of Columbus, Ga.; and one sister, Berniece Kuhse of Clinton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and four sisters.

Death date: Aug. 14, 2006
