Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home.

SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Phillip Sneller, pastor of First Reformed Church, officiating.

FULTON, Ill. — Lucy M. Pessman-Sissing, 98, of Fulton, died Thursday at the Alverno Health Care Facility, Clinton.

Interment will be in Fulton Township Cemetery.

She was born March 9, 1908, in Albany, Ill., to Louis M. and Mary Newendyke Buikema. She married Joseph Pessman on March 16, 1932, in Fulton. He died in 1962. She then married George Sissing on Jan. 27, 1979, in Fulton. He died in 1994.

She was educated in rural Whiteside County grade schools.

She worked as a private duty housekeeper. She later was employed as a cook with the Dutch Boy Restaurant, Fulton.

She was a member of First Reformed Church and the church’s Helping Hand Society.

Survivors include one daughter, Linda (Gerald) Schaver of Morrison; one stepdaughter, Maxine (Richard) Whistler of Fulton; two stepgrandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy (Allen) Poel of Morrison and Luella Deelsnyder of Fulton; two brothers, Marion (Gertrude) Buikema of Morrison and Louis (Helen) Buikema of Fulton; four sisters-in-law, Hildred Buikema of Fulton, Dorothy Zuidema of Morrison, Pearl Sissing of Clinton and Juanita Sissing of Morrison; and one brother-in-law, Corneil (Mary) Pessman of Morrison.

Memorials may be made to First Reformed Church’s radio broadcast or the Victory Center, Clinton.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, four sisters, two brothers and two other siblings.
