Allen Benhart

Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at First Lutheran Church, Maquoketa. Carson and Son Funeral and Cremation Services, Maquoketa, is in charge of the arrangements.

SERVICES: 7 p.m. Thursday at the church.

MAQUOKETA — Allen W. Benhart, 49, of Maquoketa, died Monday at his home.

Graveside services and burial will be Friday at Mount Hope Cemetery, Maquoketa.

He was born Aug. 2, 1956, in Maquoketa to Melvin “Red” Benhart and Betty Stender Benhart. He married Deborah Sue DeVries McClain on May 1, 1982, in Maquoketa.

He was a 1974 graduate of Maquoketa High School.

He worked with General Thermo, Maquoketa, for several years as a lead man/truck driver. He then worked with Precision Metal Works, Maquoketa, and Bullock’s Inc., Maquoketa. He retired in 1990.

Survivors include his wife; stepchildren, Leigh (Danny) Roudabush of Brooklyn, Iowa, Lynelle McLain of Corinth, Texas, and Lonnie McLain of Kellogg; his parents, Melvin “Red” and Betty Benhart of Maquoketa; one sister, Brenda (W.J. “Skeeter”) Grage of Maquoketa; brothers, Larry (Cindy) Benhart of and Brian (Kelly) Benhart, both of Maquoketa; one brother-in-law, Dwain Trenkamp of Maquoketa; and several nieces and nephews.

An Allen W. Benhart Memorial Fund has been established.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents and one sister.
