SERVICES: 10 a.m. Monday at the Clinton Church of Christ, with Pastor Kenneth Greeley and Calvin Schaver co-officiating.

VISITATION: 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Fulton Chapel, Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home.

MORRISON, Ill. — Allan C. Vegter, 62, of Morrison, died Thursday at Genesis Medical Center East, Davenport.

Burial will be in Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison.

He was born Dec. 18, 1943, in Morrison to Willard and Sylvia Wiebenga Vegter. He married Connie Richards on Sept. 12, 1970, in Morrison.

He was educated in rural Whiteside County grade schools and was a 1961 graduate of Morrison High School. He also was a graduate of the Morrison Institute of Technology.

He served in the U.S. Army Reserve.

He was employed with General Electric of Morrison for 38 years. He also farmed in the rural Morrison area.

He was a member of the Fulton Saddle Club, Whiteside County Sheriff’s Patrol, Illinois State Stock Horse Association, Whiteside County Farm Bureau and the Clinton Church of Christ in Clinton.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Tami (Russ) Tegeler of Morrison, and Mrs. Janet (Wayne) Kerr, of Rogers, Ohio; two sons, Rick (Debbie) Vegter, of Newton, and David (Julie) Vegter, of Fulton, Ill.; seven grandchildren; his mother, Sylvia Vegter, of Morrison; a sister, Mrs. Joyce (Jim) Hoefler, of Rock Falls, Ill.; and three brothers, Harlan (Marilyn) Vegter, Richard (Becky) Vegter and Larry Vegter, all of Morrison.

He was preceded in death by his father and a brother.

Memorials can be made to the Brian Tegeler Medical Expense Benefit Account.

Death Date: July 27, 2006.
