SERVICES: A memorial service was held in Westchester, Calif., on July 7. Law-Jones Funeral Home is assisting the local family.
MENDOCINO, Calif. — Ian James Jones, 12, died June 26.
He was born May 29, 1994, in Santa Monica, Calif., to Brian and Ellen Jones.
He was a member of the Westside Neighborhood School’s track team. He served as a youth referee for the American Youth Soccer Organization.
He recently received first place in his division at his school’s science competition for his project, “Got sun? Solar Purification Apparatus,” which he presented at the Los Angeles County Science Fair earlier this year.
Survivors include his parents, Brian and Ellen Jones; one sister Gwendolyn; one brother, Trevor; grandmother, Janet Jones of Savanna, Ill.; grandfather, C.J. Jones of Tucson, Ariz.; and great-grandparents, Charles and Louise Hodge of Savanna.
