SERVICES: 1 p.m. Friday at Newton Union Cemetery with Chaplain Merle Smith officiating.
NEWTON — Carol Jean Quick, 62, of Newton, died Sunday at Hospice of Jasper County’s Monarch Wing.
Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery.
She was born Aug. 4, 1943, in Iowa City to Edwin Slater and Elda Anna Grace Huebbe Wing. She married Jimmy Allen Quick Sr. in 1969 in Morrison, Ill. He died in 1976. Shen then married Howard W. McBroom on Sept. 8, 1984, in Derby. He died in 2003.
She grew up in Maquoketa, Delmar and Clinton before moving back to Newton in 2000.
She was a homemaker. She also worked at the Derby Restaurant and BC&S, Des Moines, as a microfilm operator.
Survivors include three sons, James D. (Lynn) Wing of Clear Lake and Edwin L. (Teresa) Quick and Jimmy A. Quick Jr., both of Newton; two daughters, Machelle R. (Dale) James of Reasnor and Jennifer L. (Josh Heward) Quick of Urbandale; three stepsons, Rick (Danette) McBroom of Derby, Duane McBroom of Humeston and Todd (Rhonda) McBroom of Runnells; 20 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; five sisters; and four brothers.
Memorials may be made in her name and left at the funeral home.
She was preceded in death by her parents and both husbands.
